Overview

Our yoga and meditation retreat is a perfect opportunity to take a break, escape the daily routine and refresh your body and mind by practising various yogic techniques such as asana, pranayama, mudra, kriya, bandha and meditation. The retreat is suitable for all levels, yoga beginners and also experienced practitioners. During the retreat, you will experience traditional Hatha Yoga "Patanjali yoga", get insight into yoga philosophy and get all benefits from different meditation techniques. Each day you will start with chanting mantras, breathing exercises and traditional hatha yoga classes. During the day you will have enough time to explore and enjoy the Lakshman Jhula life, deepen your asana practice in the afternoon yoga class, and end the day with meditation. After this retreat, you will have a better understanding of yoga and feel a deeper connection with your higher self.

Our location

The yoga & meditation retreat takes place at Patanjali International Yoga Foundation, in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India, situated on the bank of the holy Ganga River, on the foothills of the Himalayas. Rishikesh is a very relaxed and spiritual place, enabling you to get into a very peaceful atmosphere. It is believed, that meditation in Rishikesh brings people closer to the attainment of moksha, as does a dip in the holy river that flows through it.

Accommodation

At Patanjali International Yoga Foundation (PIYF), Rishikesh, we provide accommodation and other facilities to our yoga students to make their stay comfortable and healthy.

  • Single/shared accommodation with attached bathroom and hot water.
  • Please keep in mind, that this is a yoga ashram and not a hotel, so we provide all ashram facilities.
  • Upon your arrival, we provide soap and toilet paper, the rest of the time you need to buy it.
  • For your safety and security, please bring a padlock for your room.
  • We provide clean bed sheets and towel once a week.
  • We provide shared kettle, iron and hairdryer on each floor.
  • We provide a blanket, but during the winter we recommend you to bring a sleeping bag.

All classes are taught by Dr Jitendra Das and his assistant yoga teachers.

Instructors

Dr. Jitendra Das

Dr Jitendra Das is teaching yoga since 2001. He teaches Ancient Hatha Yoga and Astanga Vinyasa Maisor style 1st series. Dr Jitendra Das has studied and practised Yoga, Ayurveda and Vedic scripture at school and university, as well as with senior Indian yoga masters. He studied Yoga, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Veda and related subjects in Haridwar.

Haridwar is known as the ‘door to heaven’, and attracts many Yogic saints and Ayurvedic masters. It is also an ideal place for Ayurvedic ancient healing and Yogic centres. Jitendra Das completed his B.A. 'Bachelor's degree' in Sanskrit, Yoga, Vedic literature and Philosophy subject, M.A. 'gold medal awarded' in yoga and scientific research, and PhD with the title 'Patanjali Yoga and Ayurveda' at Gurukul Kangari University, Haridwar, Uttrakhand, India.

Dr Das has travelled, studied and practised yoga all over India at Ashrams with practitioner monks, during his school vacations. After his graduation, he decided to share the knowledge and experience, that he gained through his practice and from other sources. Therefore, he developed a small place in Rishikesh for Eastern and Western seekers of Yoga and spirituality. By now, this place is well known as Patanjali International Yoga Foundation (PIYF) and is registered with the Indian government and Yoga Alliance international. He teaches and practices Yogasana, Pranayama, Bandha, Mantra, Mudra, meditation, cleansing Kriyas, Ayurveda and Vedic chanting at Rishikesh, and gives conferences, workshops and seminars worldwide.
