Casperia is within the famous Blue Zones where people live longer than the average.
The secret seems as simple as - connection with community and family, purpose, a positive outlook locomotion as in gentle regular movement like gardening, dancing, walking and of course a natural local diet.
With the help of our local and international staff, we also offer a choice of holistic therapies, massage treatments and days visiting our local hot springs.
There's also a wide range of activities including cycling on our free bikes, mountain treks, horse riding and more. Or if you'd just like to chill, there's plenty of time to relax, swim and soak-up the atmosphere of each of our hand picked beautiful locations in Italy and Costa Rica. Either way, it will be a chance to immerse yourself in the way of life and admire the spectacular panoramic views of the countryside and nature surrounding you.
The picture-perfect Italian village of Casperia, our base since 1998, is situated in the heart of the Sabina mountains just north of Rome. It is car-free, with fewer than 350 inhabitants. The fortified medieval village has impressive panoramic views of the Sabina hills and mountain landscape from every angle.
Travel with low-cost flights to either of Rome's airports, and you'll reach Casperia in a little over an hour on public transport or, for a fee, we can collect you.
Each of the houses in which Sunflower Retreats' guests stay is within a couple of minutes walk from the others and our yoga studios, breakfast lounge and treatment rooms. Your walk will take you through the winding cobbled streets of Casperia.
The unspoilt structure and atmosphere of the village gives you a unique feeling of being in a historic place in time-gone-by, a place of natural beauty surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and forest-covered mountains where you can watch the changing scenery from every angle.
We offer you the choice of three types of accommodation in Casperia, a two-minute walk from one another and our yoga, breakfast and treatment facilities:
All of our accommodation is in comfortable twin rooms, with a single option; you won't find yourself crowded into bunks, triple rooms or yurts!
Yoga and holistic treatments are at the heart of what we do, but if you're into yoga, the chances are that you like the active life too. We offer a range of activities on our holidays to suit all budgets - from cycling and trekking to low-cost visits to hot springs and a wide range of other sport and learning opportunities. In this way, you can add to your experience or stick to your budget and still have a fantastic holiday.
Activities and trips can be booked at breakfast time each day when our staff are present to help plan your holiday and day.

Sandra Galindoma
I started my spiritual journey around 20 years ago, learning and practising meditation and Yoga in different Ashrams in India. My daily practice has shown me how to approach my life with full awareness, accepting and embracing each moment as it comes, how to be present and available for the natural flow of life. Choosing to walk down this path has changed my life completely and left me more accepting of myself and others, and the nature of reality.

After making several trips to Asia, he started the discipline of Hatha yoga through a method created by Supreme Master Gabriella Cella; the first woman to bring the ancient teachings the Sivananda to Italy. After studying for more than forty years in various ashrams scattered across India, she developed the Yoga Ratna method where 'Ratna' means 'the jewel' through which we uncover our real being.
