Highlights

Dive deeper into your yoga practice Professional 500hr RYT yoga instructor Two rejuvenating yoga sessions daily

Overview

The intension of this retreat is to reconnect to your true self by finding your roots. In the western world, we often find ourselves living in a routine of working, taking care of the family, focusing less on ourselves and more on the obstacles we go through on a daily basis. This 6-day retreat is designed to turn your focus inward. This retreat has been built to help you disconnect from society and reconnect with your true self. Our wildlife expert will guide you through the rainforest where you will come across some of the most amazing plant, fungi, and wildlife species on the planet. You will experience Mother Nature in an entirely new and unique way. Yoga will be held in a beautiful maloca overlooking the Tambopata River twice a day. We will also trek to a secluded lake for a full day of yoga surrounded by blue-and-yellow macaws nesting in the hollowed palm trees. The yoga will be mostly Hatha, incorporating Iyengar and Vinyasa Yoga styles. Due to the heat and humidity of the Amazon Rainforest, you can expect every class to feel like a hot yoga class. This is perfect for those looking for a detox, or even those looking to shed a few pounds. By the end of the retreat, you will feel rejuvenated, grounded, realigned, and reconnected with yourself and the natural world.

This retreat will cycle through many styles of Hatha yoga including Iyenger, Vinyasa, Yin, Power, and Flow Yoga. Jaren will combine these styles of yoga to create a peaceful, grace filled experience, individualized for each student. With the goal of the retreat being to get back to your roots and reconnect with your true self, each yoga session will be designed accordingly.

We will use the majestic sounds of the rainforest to connect with Mother Nature during our sessions, connecting breath and movement.

Each yoga session can be looked at as a hot yoga class due to the extreme humidity levels and heat of the Amazon Rainforest.

Location

Our location

Our remote location in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru provides the perfect mix of tranquility and relaxation. The lodge we will stay at is surrounded by forest with a yoga maloca over looking the beautiful Tambopata River. Each meal is full of locally sourced nutrients to ensure you have a healthy stay. Our local chefs will make sure to accommodate all dietary needs during the retreat. Fresh juices will keep your energy levels up to keep you sharp and ready for everything the retreat has to offer. Private bungalows are perfect for allowing you to have some quality time to yourself whenever needed. The large common area is perfect for getting to know your fellow yogis and yoginis.

Here in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest situated next to the Tambopata River in Madre de Dios, you will find yourself submerged in the isolated lands of the Amazon Rainforest. Here the wildlife is some of the most unusual and interesting waiting to be found. You will be guided by wildlife specialist Mark Fernley who will lead you through the forest in search of anything that moves among the vast rainforest tree giants. During each day walk, you will be guided through the vast forest in search of birds, mammals such as the stunning Jaguar and along with primates such as the mischievous Capuchin and the astonishingly loud Howler monkeys of the forest. During our exciting night walks lead by Mark, we will be in search for tree frogs, insects and Peru’s species of snakes that come in a range of shapes, colours and sizes. During the time of this relaxing and wildlife educational yoga retreat, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous Chuncho Claylick. This Claylick is known to be the largest parrot claylick in the world bringing many species of macaw and parakeets every day to feast on the clay and socialize making it one of the largest Macaw gatherings world wide. Outside of the macaw community, you will also get the chance to get to explore a small lake where wildlife can flourish in the sun. This open area is a great location for you to spot birds and become one with nature.

Once you are checked into your room, you will be able to enjoy the views from the hotel, take a trip to the local market, or just take a stroll through the town. At 6pm, we will all gather for a meet and greet session before our 7pm dinner reservations just across the street! After dinner, we will answer any questions that may come up and go over everything you need to know before taking off into the rainforest early the next morning.

Day 2:

Breakfast will be awaiting us in the hotel restaurant at 7am. Just after breakfast, we will set off on our journey. The eco-lodge can be reached by a 1 ½ hour car ride followed by a ½ hour boat ride. We will arrive to the lodge mid-morning with refreshments awaiting us. Upon arrival, you will receive a tour of the lodge, including the beautiful Maloca, where we will do our daily practices. Once you have been shown to your room, you will have the freedom to relax at your leisure or go ahead and take advantage of the Maloca. Lunch will be served at 1pm each day. After lunch, we will meet in the Maloca for and a stress releasing yoga class, followed by a slow walk through the rainforest guided by our wildlife expert Mark Fernley. During our walk, we will arrive at an enormous mammal claylick. Most herbivorous mammals gather here to eat and bathe in the clay in order to get the salty nutrients their diets lack. We will quickly install a motion-sensor camera trap here that we will leave for the entirety of the retreat to see the abundance of wildlife in the area. We will return to the lodge just in time to get showered for dinner. Dinner is served at 7pm each day. After dinner, we will meet back in the Maloca for a yoga circle followed by a gentle yoga flow to end the day.

Day 3:

We will wake up bright and early to the roars of the local howler monkeys, one of the loudest land animals on the planet) around 6am. This will give you time to do your morning routine before we meet in the Maloca at 7am for our grounding but energizing 1-hour yoga class. After, you will have time to shower and prepare for our nature walk that will happen straight after breakfast. Breakfast will be served at 8:30am each day forward. We will spend our morning slowly walking through the forest, listening to the natural sounds of the animals surrounding us and hopefully spotting a few as well! We will return to the lodge with plenty of time before lunch for you to relax, socialize, meditate, self-practice, etc. Lunch will be served. At 2pm we will meet back in the Maloca for a 1-hour yoga class followed by a group discussion. After, you will have the choice of joining Mark on a nature walk or staying around the lodge to relax. Dinner will be served at 7pm. After dinner, Mark will offer a night walk through the forest! This is exciting because most animals in the rainforest are most active after dark!

Day 4:

We will have an early wake-up call at 4:30am. We will take a 1-hour boat trip up-river to spend the morning at the Chuncho Claylick watching hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets in their natural habitat. This is the largest macaw claylick in the world! We will have a packed breakfast to eat while on the beach watching the macaws and smaller parrots. We will return to the lodge just in time for lunch. At 2pm we will have an hour-long power yoga class incorporating balance, followed by an inversions workshop. We will then have time to relax before dinner. Instructors

Jaren Arellano

Hello! My name is Jaren Arellano and I am the founder of Into Nature Yoga Retreats. I am originally from the United States, as I was born in Michigan, and grew up in North Carolina. My childhood consisted of gymnastics, gymnastics, and well, more gymnastics. When I wasn't in the gym, you could find me outside playing with the farm animals or playing in the woods with my sister. I have always wanted to have a career that involved being outside, surrounded by as many animals as possible, but I also knew that with so much knowledge about the human body and movement, it would be a shame to let that all fade out of my life.

When I was about 17 years old, I moved to college with an open mind, ready to take on whatever new things came my way. I attended my first yoga class at a local gym and immediately, I was hooked! I started to study different styles of yoga; tried out different studios and teachers, I found what I liked, I found what I didn't like. I soon realized that yoga was so much more than what it looks. Yoga is so much more than balance and flexibility. Yoga is the connection of your mind, your breath, your movements, your soul. Yoga is your interpretation of how you see the world. Yoga is a mindset that allows you to look at this beautiful world with positivity and light. Yoga is being happy with life as it is.

I started living my life differently. With a whole new perspective, I was ready to make changes. I had always wanted to travel and see natures wonders and wildlife around the world. So that is what I did. I travelled to the Amazon Rainforest of Peru to photograph the wildlife, and wow! My life has never been the same. When I was there, I met my future husband. Together we run wildlife photography workshops, tours, and safaris around the world. Mark is a professional wildlife photographer and tour guide, while I manage all of the logistics and operations.

So we put our minds together to create Into Nature Yoga Retreats. Nature and Wildlife Infused Yoga Retreats. The perfect path for me. I can share my passion for nature and yoga with others in some of the most amazing natural locations in the world. I am the retreat leader, while Mark is the nature guide and wildlife specialist. Together we make a great team and we love sharing our experiences with you.
