As working women, fitting play into our lives has always been difficult. This has never been truer than during this year of COVID pandemic. We are optimistic that by June 2021, we will feel able to safely travel within the U.S., to take time for a much-needed PLAY break!
Play, a fundamental health experience, is often overlooked by ‘responsible adults’. We see the value of play in helping kids learn, create, explore, and express themselves. But somewhere along the way, we adults traded in play for work and tamped down our yearning for playful experiences. Play frees up our creativity, enhances our ability to live in flow, and naturally brings us joy.
The Mudita yoga practice is about appreciating and sharing joy and happiness. Mudita will be our theme for this retreat. Setting the intention to prioritize joy — and to connect with others through joy — is among the best gifts we can give the world right now. Everyone everywhere could benefit from ‘lightening up’.
With Colleen as your guide, we’ll explore her 5 P’s for Mudita — living in joy:
Presence — Savoring the micro-moments. We’ll learn techniques for mindful awareness of the present moment while walking the labyrinth, and then practice these during yoga and adventures.
People — As human beings, we are hardwired to connect. We can train ourselves to be more aware of our innate capacity for ‘mindsight’, the feeling of mutuality we experience when we pause briefly enough to ‘be’ with those around us.
Purpose — Understanding your deepest ‘why’ and ‘how’ of play provides the fuel you need to live your purpose.
Passion — Listening to your inner voice and letting it guide you to the adventure of your choosing, whether that’s sitting by the pool, taking a hike, adventuring on a mountain bike, rafting, or communing with llamas. Periodic journaling prompts will help you tap into what ignites your passion.
Play! — Nothing we do will be too serious. The point of this retreat is to give yourself permission to unleash your playful side. Play like a kid again! Get dirty, be silly, and laugh — a lot.
