200hr Yoga Alliance Teacher Training

Cambodia - 19 days

Non-profit Community Karma day

Tavoos hosts & delivers, 200-hour Traditional Yoga Alliance© Registered Yoga Teacher Training throughout the year.

Our Yoga Training are typically 20 days long and run from early morning to evening, with one day free in the middle of the course to relax, recharge or explore the town and the majestic temples of Angkor Wat.

The days start early with sunrise practice and finishes with a group Satsang.  The classes take place in the gorgeous shala in the middle of our tropical garden which can fit up to 30 students comfortably or our private air-conditioned, indoor studio next door which can seat up to 12 students.

Although we have the capability of hosting large groups, it is important for us to keep our class sizes smaller with a maximum 20 students.  This allows our teachers to be able to dedicate personal attention to all students.

Our course is designed to embrace both beginner yogis, as well as more experienced ones.  Another reason why we keep our class sizes small is to allow the course to be restructured from time to time in order to cater to the experience level of each group.

A typical day of training includes lectures about yoga history, philosophy, anatomy, physiology, asanas, practicums, meditation, breathing, yoga Nidra and discussions.  With meal breaks and self-study time. At the end of each day, students can go into town to wander the night markets which have music, shopping, cafes & restaurants and massages.  Center of the town is only a 10-minute walk away.

Let’s not forget the best part of this course.  You will make life long friends with fellow yogis from all corners of the world.

Community impact

By joining one a Yoga Teacher Training Course at Tavoos, not only are you experiencing a professional course, but you are contributing back to the local community in a unique way.

Tavoos is not a commercialised, profit-driven school.  We are a non-profit social venture operated by a group of yogis and humanitarians from Canada, Netherlands and Cambodia.

We operate under these two rules:

  • To bring you the most authentic and professional teachings of yoga.  Making sure that you graduate as a well-versed yoga teacher, with all the essential knowledge of yoga such as philosophy, history, asanas and anatomy.
  • To use income generated from our yoga school to provide clean water to local families, to provide hygiene products and education to local girls and to empower aspiring Cambodian yoga teachers by donating spots in our courses.

We want to encourage our students to embrace the concept of giving back into their day to day lives.  This is why as part of our course, we dedicate a day for you to take part in our community projects.  As well we give you a chance to spend a few days after the course to volunteer with us.

By joining our teacher training program you can rest assured that all the money you spend is going directly back into the local community.

Food:  There are three meals included as part of the course fee.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner.  All prepared in our own kitchen under the supervision of our chef who has been trained to cater to guests who have special dietary requirements or restrictions.

During our teacher training course we only serve vegan meals.  Don’t worry, there is plenty of plant based protein options to keep your body energised.  The reason we only serve vegan is to prevent anyone from experiencing stomach problems.  This does not mean that the local meet is unsafe, however as each student comes from a different part of the world, everyone’s stomach enzymes are used to different biologicals in their local meat.  As this is an intensive course, it would not be a good idea to risk missing any classes due to stomach issues.

As part of your registration you will be asked to fill out details about any medical issues or dietary restrictions.  All information is strictly confidential for your teacher, as well as our chef so she can make sure that our kitchen staff take extra measures to satisfying students’ needs.  Any students with severe allergies will have their meals prepared at a separate area.

During meal times, students have the flexibility of eating their meals in one of our beautiful Gazebos in Tavoos Garden, or by their room or poolside at Green Leaf Boutique Hotel.  Meals are served buffet style and all ingredients are organic and locally sourced.
